Dear Friends,
I’m pleased to announce I have nominated 23 Fourth District students to the United States Military Service Academies for the class of 2020.
In advance of this round of nominations, my staff held more than 24 information sessions at schools throughout the district, which includes parts of DeKalb, Newton and Gwinnett counties and all of Rockdale County.
Putting forward nominations of Fourth District students for admission to the U.S. Military Academies is one of the most important jobs we do each year.
Dear Friends,
I want to wish all our mothers in Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District and beyond a very Happy Mother’s Day 2016.
On Sunday, we honor our mothers who have given us so much. Whether our mothers are single or married, LGBT or straight, adoptive, biological or foster, all should be rightfully honored.
I’m very pleased to announce that I’m holding my 2016 Resources Fair on February 18, 2016, at Georgia Piedmont Technical College in Clarkston from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Fair will help connect constituents with local, state and federal agencies that will provide job-readiness training, information on the television & film industry and employment opportunities.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, every day I’m inspired to work on behalf of all our military personnel and veterans.
My work as a member of Congress on behalf of veterans is two-fold: In Washington, I have consistently proposed or voted to help increase awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), boost mental health funding, decrease homelessness and increase job opportunities for our veterans.
I’m pleased to announce that I was renamed Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law (RRCAL) last week.
I have long supported competition, consumer welfare, and workers’ rights. I look forward to building on these issues and expanding into new areas in the 114th Congress.
Dear Friends,
Since Open Enrollment began on Nov. 15, 2014, 7.75 million consumers selected a plan or were automatically re-enrolled through the HealthCare.gov platform, including 468,464 in Georgia.
This Sunday, Feb. 15, marks the deadline and end of Open Enrollment for the 2015 Health Insurance Marketplaces. It is important for individuals in Georgia who have not yet signed up for coverage to visit Healthcare.gov before the Feb. 15 deadline.
Dear Friends,
On July 30, I marked the 49th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid by taking to the House floor to celebrate these twin poverty fighting pillars and to continue speaking about the new State Medicaid Expansion Caucus (SMEC), which I proudly co-chair.
Dear Friends,
I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Fourth of July!
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, it gives me great pride to serve citizens of the Fourth District, Georgia and our nation. Every day I go to work – whether in Washington or in Georgia – I work on behalf of the men and women who so honorably and bravely serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am honored to represent Georgia this week as part of a Congressional delegation to Normandy, France, where we are celebrating in the 70th anniversary of the Allied invasion on D-Day.
It has been a humbling experience to lay wreaths and pay homage at the Normandy American Cemetery during memorial ceremonies at Omaha and Sword beaches 70 years after the pivotal June 6, 1944, battle.
