Dear Friends,

On this Memorial Day 2014, we honor the fallen men and women of our Armed Services.

Every day in my district or Washington, D.C. offices, one of our constituent services representatives helps a veteran with a housing, health, job or compensation issue.

Dear Friends,

There’s been a lot going on in Washington, D.C. and in the Fourth District, and I’d like to get everyone caught up on issues and projects I’ve been working on.

I was excited to take part in MSNBC’s “Growing Hope” on May 9 for a special edition of PoliticsNation with The Rev. Al Sharpton live from the Sweet Auburn Springfest in downtown Atlanta.

Dear Friends,

For more than 40 years, Americans have come together to celebrate Earth Day as a way to renew our efforts to protect the small, blue planet we all call home.

Each one of us can make a difference. The path to clean air, water and reduced emissions and a healthier planet will only take hold if everyone does his or her part.

Dear Friends,

I’m pleased to report that eight million Americans have now found health coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplaces – joining the three million young adults who have been able to remain on their parents’ plans, and the millions more who are securing new coverage for themselves and their families through the expansion of Medicaid.

From debates about raising the minimum wage, progress under the Affordable Care Act to the role that regulations play in protecting workers’ safety and creating jobs, it’s been an active and productive month here in Georgia and on Capitol Hill. Let’s get caught up.

Dear Friends,

Last week in Washington, I voted in favor of the bipartisan budget proposal. It wasn’t everything that I wanted, but it represents a modest step toward enacting a budget and preventing further manufactured crises that only harm our economy, destroy jobs, and weaken our middle class.
