Dear Friends,

I want to thank the National Association of Chinese-Americans (NACA), Georgia Perimeter College, Oakhurst Medical Center, Four Corners Primary Care and everyone who participated in the Affordable Healthcare Act information event in Clarkston on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Attendees enjoyed one-one-one attention with navigators, and we got several people signed up for health care who do not receive insurance through their job, Medicare, Medicaid or the Veterans Administration. We’ll keep working to ensure that constituents understand what the health care law means to them.

I also want you to be aware of the Clarkston Day of Action on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Clarkston Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., where Get Covered America, Georgia Refugee Health & Mental Health, and licensed navigators will provide critical information on enrollment options available during open enrollment that ends March 31.

PROTECTING VETERANS: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is also joining the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Defense, Education, and Justice, as well as the Federal Trade Commission, in announcing a new online student complaint system where service members, veterans, and their families can report negative experiences at education institutions and training programs administering the Post-9/11 GI Bill, DoD Military Tuition Assistance, and other military-related education benefit programs.
