LITHONIA – On Saturday, August 22, at the Lou Walker Senior Center, Congressman Hank Johnson held his 2026 H.O.P.E. Awards ceremony to close out his 4th Annual Week of H.O.P.E.
The Week of H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Elevate), which centers around National Nonprofit Day, is a celebration of the nonprofit organizations, leaders, and volunteers who dedicate themselves to improving the lives of others throughout Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District.

Congressman recognizes longtime district director Kathy Register posthumously
DECATUR, GA – On Saturday, March 21, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) presented eleven (11) women in Georgia’s Fourth District with “Trailblazer” awards in recognition of their pioneering careers and service to the greater community. He paid a special tribute to the memory and legacy of his longtime District Director, Kathy Register, who passed away in October 2025.
The House Committee on Appropriations announced it will be accepting Community Project Funding (CPF) requests from Members. This is in addition to the standard programmatic and language-based requests. Each Member is limited to no more than 15 Community Project Funding requests across all eligible subcommittees for Fiscal Year 2025 and there is no guarantee that all requested projects will be funded. The FY2025 CPF process has a limited scope with combined earmarks capped at 1% of all discretionary spending and eligible accounts restricted to those listed in the table below.
Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Lou Walker Senior Center. The Congressman and his special guests from the federal, state and local levels will discuss their plans to combat homelessness, rental hikes, home purchasing issues, unwarranted foreclosures and affordable housing. There will also be resources for landlords and renters.

On Saturday, August 19 at Legacy Park in Decatur, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) held his Ceremony of HOPE honoring the work of six local nonprofits, including Catholic Charities of Atlanta, Friends of Disabled Adults & Children (FODAC), the Women’s Resources Center to End Violence Against Women, the Rockdale Coalition for Children & Families, Newton Mentoring, Inc., and Newton County Historical Committee on Black Preservation.

Wellroot Family Services is set to receive $1.2 million in funding that Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-4) secured as part of the 2023 community project funding appropriations.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) and the entire Georgia Democratic Delegation sent a letter to Department of Community Affairs Commissioner Christopher Nunn seeking answers as to “what factors led to the decision to close the Georgia Rental Assistance (GRA) program to new applications, why the decision took days for DCA to announce publicly, and what DCA plans to do with the remaining federal funds supporting the program.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced that he secured the inclusion of more than $15 million for 13 community projects in Georgia's Fourth District in the FY23 appropriations – Congress's annual spending plan.
The inclusion of this funding in the Appropriations Committee bills is the first step in the budgetary process.
