LITHONIA, GA – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced today that he is encouraging Fourth District residents to protect their identity and help fight fraud during tax season by following some basic Internal Revenue Service guidelines.

Hank Johnson of Georgia’s 4th district spoke on the House floor today to call for action this year on climate change, highlighting the costly record-setting weather events across the country in 2013. Rep. Johnson pointed to the overwhelming scientific evidence that climate change is causing more severe weather. The Safe Climate Caucus is a group of Democratic members who highlight the need for action on climate change through daily floor speeches and other activities.

Last week in Washington, I voted in favor of the bipartisan budget proposal. It wasn’t everything that I wanted, but it represents a modest step toward enacting a budget and preventing further manufactured crises that only harm our economy, destroy jobs, and weaken our middle class.
Some members of the House went into these budget talks insisting on cuts to initiatives that families and seniors depend on – but the bipartisan deal does not cut Medicare, Social Security, or Medicaid benefits.
