Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) joined more than 145 members of Congress sending a letter to President Obama urging the Administration to immediately halt ICE raids targeting Central American families and children.
The letter also calls on the Administration to find a regional and comprehensive solution to the refugee crisis in Central America including “refugee screening and resettlement, the use of safe havens in appropriate third countries, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for those individuals in the United States, the use of priority refugee process

Congressman: Unjust system creates modern day debtors’ prisons for the poor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced that he is a proud original cosponsor of H.R. 4364 – the “End Debtor’s Prison Act of 2016” – which withholds Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grants to municipalities that contract with private, for-profit companies that engage in “pay only” probation systems.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Johnson (GA-05) voted against a Republican bill this week that would dismantle the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood. This Republican Reconciliation bill would take away affordable health coverage from 22 million Americans, and would strip away family planning services and life-saving cancer screenings from millions of women across the country.
