I had the pleasure of visiting the Mitcham Cattle Co. and strawberry farm to discuss agricultural issues, host a senior citizen meet & greet in Newton County to discuss federal benefits and services, attended DeKalb County Commissioner Stan Watson’s Saturday morning legislative meeting on veterans’ issues and homeownership and discuss labor issues at the International Association of Machinists’ 125-year anniversary celebration.
Congressman’s office assisted in HomeSafe GA outreach, helping nearly 700 homeowners prevent foreclosures in the Fourth Congressional District
LITHONIA, GA – In a May 16 letter to Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04), Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Mike Beatty reported that more people have been helped under President Obama’s “Hardest Hit Fund”– known as HomeSafe in Georgia – in the Fourth Congressional District than any other congressional district in the state.
Sen. Al Franken introduces Senate companion; Bills would remedy Supreme Court ruling, Restore consumers’ rights to justice through courts
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) announced the re-introduction of legislation that would restore consumers’ rights to seek justice through the courts. The Arbitration Fairness Act (H.R. 1844) would eliminate forced arbitration clauses in employment, consumer, and civil rights cases, and would allow consumers and workers to choose arbitration after a dispute occurred.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In February, 2013, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) sent a letter to Larry Page, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Google, questioning Google’s data sharing practices for apps purchased through Google Play. Google was routinely sending personal information such as the name, e-mail address and home address of Google Play users to apps developers. Google is now considering ending this practice.
