DECATUR, GA – This week, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) celebrated his 2019 Congressional App Challenge winners via a virtual meeting with three graduates from Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia.

Assitan Ndiaye of Decatur; Ayomikun Akin-David of Conyers; and Danait Issac of Stone Mountain: won the 2019 competition with their mobile application: RAMPAGE. The mobile app serves as a one-stop-shop for students to keep up with current events at their school, navigate through their campus and learn things that benefit them according to their grade level.

House Democrats Move to Strengthen ACA, While Trump Asks Supreme Court to Tear Law Down

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, one day before the Trump Administration is due to file a brief asking the Supreme Court to strike down the entirety of the Affordable Care Act, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) unveiled House Democrats' new legislation to build on the ACA to lower health costs and prescription drug prices: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act.

Stone Mountain, GA — More than 100 people took part in the city of Stone Mountain's March for Social Justice June 20.

The march was organized by city of Stone Mountain Mayor Pro Tem Chakira Johnson who said, "I organized the March for Social Justice in Stone Mountain after all the turmoil in America, with the most recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks.

Rep. Hank Johnson, who represents Georgia's Fourth Congressional District, is being honored as a recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America award.

The Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award recognizes members of Congress who demonstrate the bipartisan leadership to advancing policies that support America's small businesses and entrepreneurs.

"I am happy to accept this award, and pledge to continue fighting for good fiscal policy that lifts everyone up not just the privileged few," said Johnson.

‘In the minds of the public'

The bill also includes language from another senior Judiciary Democrat, Hank Johnson of Georgia, to limit the types of military equipment that can be transferred to local law enforcement. Johnson said he's introduced the bill every Congress since 2014 but it wasn't until the protests after Floyd's death, when police lined the streets with military-grade weapons, that "it popped up front and center in the minds of the public."
