Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) sent a letter to Barrett on April 16 calling for her to voluntarily recuse herself from the case, saying that "statute, constitutional case law, and common sense all would seem to require" it.
"The room was filled with emotion and gratitude," said Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson. "Black lives mattered to this jury. And I'm very gratified at the verdict, very happy at the swiftness of the verdict. ... It's a vindication of justice in America."

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 15, 2021) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (NY-10), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet Hank Johnson (GA-04), and Representative Mondaire Jones (NY-17) today introduced the Judiciary Act of 2021 to expand the United States Supreme Court by adding four seats, creating a 13-justice Supreme Court.
DECATUR, GA — Congressman Henry "Hank" Johnson announced today that FEMA is accepting applications for funeral assistance for Georgians who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. Rep. Johnson helped pass the funeral assistance program as part of the American Rescue Plan and recently held a virtual teach in on April 7 to educate constituents on this and other relief provided in the law.
"Our Community Health Centers have always been the go-to source for my constituents seeking quality, affordable health care and now they are critical players in our response to COVID-19," Rep. Hank Johnson, whose district includes these health centers, said in a news release. "More help is on the way to them through the American Rescue Plan so they can redouble their efforts to get more shots in arms and save more lives from this pandemic."
