WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democrat Hank Johnson (GA-04) released the following statement today after he joined members of the Congressional Black Caucus and many in Democratic Caucus who walked off the floor, refusing to participate in the Republican vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress:

“After more than a century of debate, the American people won an historic victory with passage of the Affordable Care Act.
Thank you for inviting me to speak at this critically important event.
More than 1.2 million people in the United States currently live with HIV/AIDS, and more than one in five who are positive are not even aware of their status.
That is why I applaud the National Association of People with AIDS, or NAPWA, for advocating for increased testing.

Congressman: Federal funds allow sheriff’s department to hire seven officers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), a member of the House Armed Services and Judiciary Committees, announced today that Newton County will receive a more than $900,000 grant from Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office.
