After more than a century of debate, the American people won a historic victory yesterday when the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act.

Immediately after the law was passed by Congress and signed by the President in 2010, opponents of health care reform mounted legal challenges to repeal that progress.

More than 1.2 million people in the United States currently live with HIV/AIDS, and more than one in five who are positive are not even aware of their status.

That is why I applaud the National Association of People with AIDS, or NAPWA, for advocating for increased testing.

Congressman: Federal funds allow sheriff’s department to hire seven officers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), a member of the House Armed Services and Judiciary Committees, announced today that Newton County will receive a more than $900,000 grant from Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office.
