Pace Academy’s Moriah Wilson earns trip to London for non-profit pillows

CHJ_Moriah_e-letterLITHONIA, GA – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) presented Pace Academy and London-bound traveler Moriah Wilson, 15, with a Congressional certificate and pen in recognition of her community service creating the nonprofit Lil’ Hearts of Love.

Lil’ Hearts, which she founded in 2005 with her older sister Victoria, makes pillows for hospitalized children that include messages of encouragement. To date, the non-profit has made more than 175 pillows for sick children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and Scottish Rite, Grady, and St. Jude’s hospitals.

Through professional soccer star Julie Foudy’s “Choose to Matter” contest, Ms. Wilson won an all-expense-paid trip to the London Summer Olympic Games for Lil' Hearts. Additional sponsors of the trip include The Century Council and Girl Talk.

Ms. Wilson and three other students will be junior ambassadors at the McDonald’s Champions of Play program in London for the Olympic Games Aug. 9-12.

“It’s exciting to see young people like Moriah doing meaningful and important work through a non-profit she created,” said Rep. Johnson. “By helping sick children, Moriah is being rewarded with the trip of a lifetime – and I couldn’t be happier for her. She’s an example to us all.”

“I am very excited and grateful to have this amazing opportunity, and I hope to inspire others,” said Moriah.
