By terminating FBI Director James Comey, President Donald Trump has continued his assault on our Republic.
As recently as last week, Comey confirmed that the FBI has active ongoing counter terrorism and criminal investigations into the Trump campaign's connections to the Russian government's attempts to influence the outcome of this country's most recent presidential election.
The abrupt and unwarranted firing of James Comey appears to be another impulsive act; but a deeper view may reveal a cold, calculated and self-serving attempt to derail ongoing investigations.

The U.S. House of Representatives recently approved a bill amendment sponsored by Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., that extends nine open records exemptions to two mortgage companies that were put into federal conservatorship nearly a decade ago.
The amendment is attached to a bill that would change federal open information rules to make them apply to companies that are in federal conservatorship or receivership. The amendment passed 410-5, while the full bill passed 425-0.
Some Democrats, including U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson of Lithonia, indicated they were inclined to support it, especially since it denied Trump money for many of the top items on his policy wish list, including a border wall.
"It makes me feel good about the direction of the country that the Democrats and the Republicans could come together and work out a budget for the remainder of the 2017 fiscal year," he said.
The House voted 217-213 in favor of the amended version American Health Care Act, with about 20 Republicans, mostly moderates, siding with Democrats in opposition to the bill. WASHINGTON, D.C.—The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed an important amendment sponsored by Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA), which extends all nine Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) exemptions to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The amendment, which passed (410-5) was part of H.R. 1694, a bill that would amend the FOIA to make its provisions apply to these entities when they are in federal conservatorship or receivership.
