Gwinnett congressmen cheer, balk at passage of GOP health care bill

The House voted 217-213 in favor of the amended version American Health Care Act, with about 20 Republicans, mostly moderates, siding with Democrats in opposition to the bill. ...Democrats remain staunchly opposed, however, with the Congressional Budget Office's prediction of growing numbers of uninsured Americans figuring prominently in their comments as they took to social media to express their opinions on Thursday.

The new healthcare plan is already being called "Trumpcare" by critics, a twist on how opponents of the Affordable Care Act referred to it derisively as "Obamacare."

"@HouseGOP promised no one would lose coverage under #TrumpCare, but nonpartisan @USCBO says 24 million Americans would lose coverage," Rep. Hank Johnson said in post on Twitter.

The congressman also countered Hice claims about coverage for people with pre-existing conditions in a separate Tweet.

"Despite President Trump's promises, #TrumpCare would allow insurers to discriminate against Americans with pre-existing conditions," Johnson wrote.
