| Dear Friends, This week I hosted a small business Think Tank at Georgia Piedmont Technical College in Clarkston, where more than 100 small business owners connected with federal resources, and we held informative panels on access to capital and government contracting. I want to thank all our panelists, agencies and businesses for participating in this great event. I hope to host more of these kinds of meetings soon. |
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following the Equifax data breach of 143 million Americans' personal information, Representatives Don Beyer (D-VA), Henry C. "Hank" Johnson, Jr. (D-GA), David N. Cicilline (D-RI), and John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) wrote to the three main credit rating agencies –Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian – to hear whether these companies will continue to include forced arbitration clauses in their terms of service or end their campaign against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's rule to restore consumers' day in court.

Washington, D.C.– Today, Rep. Johnson highlighted a new state-by-state report showing Republicans' latest Trumpcare legislation, which the Senate GOP hopes to rush to a vote next week, would be disastrous for Georgian's health care in 2027 alone.
Federal funding for health coverage would be cut by $299 billion in that year alone, relative to projected spending on the Medicaid expansion, marketplace subsidies and the Medicaid program (outside of the expansion).
Congressman Hank Johnson hosted his small business Think Tank to connect more than 100 small business owners with federal resources.
Held at Georgia Piedmont Technical College campus in Clarkston, the Sept. 18 event included one-on-one sessions, panel discussions and a working lunch roundtable.
U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson will hold a think tank designed to help small business owners find federal resources this week.
Dear Friends,
Thousands of our fellow Georgians and millions in Floridians remain without power due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irma, but crews are working around the clock to remedy this difficult situation.
In fact, my household and the homes of several members of my district staff did not have power restored until Wednesday evening.
We are all coming together to help our friends, family and neighbors put their homes and lives back in order. I'll be assessing Irma damage in Georgia on Sept. 15 with a delegation led by Secretary Sonny Perdue.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, the House Caucus for Advancement of Studio, Talent and Film Diversity (CAST) will hold a panel discussion laying out the problem of diversity in media. Minorities are severely under-represented in the film industry and there is room for more faces that accurately represent our nation. It is important for our youth to have role models that they can relate and look up to, serving as inspirations for their future dreams whether to be actors/actresses, directors, or writers.
I'm holding an important event this month connecting local small businesses with federal resources. This will help our small businesses grow and create good jobs right here in the Fourth District.
