WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) voted with 265 other Democratic and Republican Members of Congress to pass H.R. 1314, a bipartisan budget agreement that creates jobs, protects seniors, affirms the full faith and credit of the United States and invests in our future.
“I am proud to join in this bipartisan effort to find a path forward for hard-working American families. This responsible budget agreement makes significant progress on the urgent challenges facing the American people,” Rep. Johnson said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Oct. 27, Rep. Johnson voted with 312 other Democratic and Republican colleagues in the House to pass H.R. 597, a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the job-creating Export-Import Bank.
The Export-Import Bank helps level the playing field for American manufacturers and small businesses hoping to compete and sell their goods in foreign markets and succeed in the global economy.

Nursing-home residents stand to lose every cause of action against unscrupulous caregivers unless CMS issues a rule ending pre-dispute (“forced”) arbitration in nursing-home agreements.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) and 26 other members of Congress sent a letter calling on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) to issue a strong rule to prohibit forced arbitration in nursing-home agreements.

Congressman Johnson, ranking member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law (RRCAL), which exercises jurisdiction over antitrust law, released the following statement on the combined effects of Anthem’s proposed acquisition of Cigna and Aetna’s proposed acquisition of Humana on consumers’ access to health insurance coverage that is both affordable and effective:
"I have long supported vigorous enforcement and promotion of competition in the healthcare marketplace for both providers and insurers," said Johnson.

Congressman introduces bill to protect traveling public by requiring automatic braking systems

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Seeking to make highways around the nation safer for drivers, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) introduced the “Safe Roads Act of 2015” (H.R. 3536).

In April of 2015, five nursing students were killed and three others seriously injured when a tractor-trailer failed to stop and plowed into traffic that had stopped on I-16 in Georgia.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced the appointment of Alexis Moore as his new legislative counsel and Brian Duckworth as legislative correspondent.

A former prosecutor, Moore previously served in the offices Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). A native of South Carolina, Moore will staff the Congressman for his Judiciary Committee work and continue the Congressman’s focus on voting rights, privacy and technology issues.
