LITHONIA, GA —Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) is pleased to announce that 16-year-old Jonathan Daniel is the winner of the 2017 Fourth District Congressional App Challenge.

"Science and technology are transforming our world and I'm very proud of the students who participated in this year's challenge," said Johnson. "The app challenge allows us to showcase some of the Fourth Congressional District's brightest young minds as they take on cutting-edge technology that is becoming an increasing part of all our lives."

Barrington Irving, the youngest person and the first African American pilot to circumnavigate the globe on his own, is collaborating with Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Georgia) for Irving's "Mitsubishi Dream & Soar Presented by Barrington Irving." The event will take place on October 17 in Johnson's home state of Georgia. The event, which is sponsored by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America (Booth: C1062), fits in with the congressman's Full STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) Ahead Initiative.

ATLANTA, GA – On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) is taking 10 local students to inventor Dr. Lonnie Johnson's tech lab in Atlanta to help celebrate "Startup Day Across America" – a day to recognize the ingenuity and entrepreneurship taking place in our backyards and expose young people to the possibilities of entrepreneurship, raise awareness and help generate support for startup communities across the country.

GEORGIA - Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), is pleased to announce that two students from Georgia's Fourth Congressional District have been selected to participate in the 2017-2018 Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Program.

Rising junior Sonia Karkare of Decatur High School and rising senior Emily Lent of Providence Classical Christian School are two of 50 total students from the Southeast and Puerto Rico to be awarded this fully funded scholarship.
