“We must not balance our books on the backs of seniors, college students, the shrinking middle class and the poor, who are struggling in this economy. There’s no doubt, we have to live within our means, get back to the Clinton-era path that allowed us to pay down our debt and reduce our deficit. Nothing should be taken off the table, including defense spending and ending tax breaks for millionaires, billionaires and Big Oil.”

Congressman: Tucker-based domestic violence center ‘doing the extraordinary’
TUCKER, GA – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) today congratulated Tapestri Inc. for receiving a $300,000 grant from the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women to fight sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
Tapestri is one of the metro Atlanta’s leading community-based organizations working to end violence and oppression in refugee and immigrant communities.
The one-time grant was awarded April 11.
"Republican negotiators extracted irresponsible cuts by threatening to deregulate polluters and defund women's health services. We're in the midst of a fragile recovery. This is a time for investment in job creation, not cuts in transportation, education, and housing."
