Calls for A Legislative Fix In Response to Supreme Court Decision Shelby County v Holder
LITHONIA, GA – Today, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) marked the 48th anniversary of the landmark Voting Rights Act. President Lyndon Johnson signed this historic law on August 6, 1965. For 48 years, the Voting Rights Act has helped secure the right to vote for millions of Americans.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Hank Johnson spoke from the House floor July 22 to call for the release of Bahraini prisoner of conscience Mahdi Abu Dheeb.

The goal of the project is for members to use their platform as public officials to spread public awareness and attain the release of such prisoners.

The REINS Act would substantially delay and potentially prevent agency rulemaking, at great risk to public health and safety, by requiring that any major new rule be affirmatively approved by Congress and the President.
