Congressman Johnson is dedicated to strengthening national security, supporting service members, and protecting democratic values at home and abroad. His focus on human rights is reflected in initiatives like the Berta Cáceres Human Rights in Honduras Act, which limits U.S. funds for military operations linked to human rights abuses. Congressman Johnson also introduced legislation to safeguard election security, co-sponsored measures to hold Iran and North Korea accountable, and supported the 9/11/ Commission's recommendations. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, he consistently prioritizes the welfare of our Armed Forces and a responsible defense budget. Congressman Hank Johnson clarified and apologized today regarding his remarks about the Israeli settlement enterprise during a panel held outside the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia:
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, it gives me great pride to serve citizens of the Fourth District, Georgia and our nation. I’m pleased to announce I have nominated 23 Fourth District students to the United States Military Service Academies for the class of 2020.
In advance of this round of nominations, my staff held more than 24 information sessions at schools throughout the district, which includes parts of DeKalb, Newton and Gwinnett counties and all of Rockdale County.
Putting forward nominations of Fourth District students for admission to the U.S. Military Academies is one of the most important jobs we do each year.
