Congressman Johnson is committed to ensuring that every American has access to affordable, quality health care. Throughout his career, he has championed legislation to expand access to health services, protect public health, and uphold consumer protections. He has consistently advocated for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which expanded Medicaid, provided coverage for young adults, and capped lifetime health benefits limits, bringing critical resources to Georgians. The ACA has funded millions in grants for maternal and child health, school-based health centers, and family health information services across Georgia. Congressman Johnson also supports efforts to combat PFAS contamination, protect vulnerable communities for parasitic diseases, and pursue additional funding for Georgia's PeachCare program. Looking ahead, he will continue to advocate for a public health insurance option, push for greater consumer protections, and support increased investments in health care research.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Johnson announced that, on the 5th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, a new report shows that hundreds of thousands of people in Georgia are benefiting from this landmark health care law.

Since Open Enrollment began on Nov. 15, 2014, 7.75 million consumers selected a plan or were automatically re-enrolled through the HealthCare.gov platform, including 468,464 in Georgia.
This Sunday, Feb. 15, marks the deadline and end of Open Enrollment for the 2015 Health Insurance Marketplaces. It is important for individuals in Georgia who have not yet signed up for coverage to visit Healthcare.gov before the Feb. 15 deadline.

LITHONIA, GA – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) today announced more than $928,000 in Department of Health & Human Services grants will go to the DeKalb Board of Health to support programs aimed at preventing chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
Funded in part by the Affordable Care Act, the awards will strengthen state and local programs aimed at fighting these chronic diseases, which are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States, and help lower our nation’s health care costs.
