Congressman introduces bill to protect traveling public by requiring automatic braking systems
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Seeking to make highways around the nation safer for drivers, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) introduced the “Safe Roads Act of 2015” (H.R. 3536).
In April of 2015, five nursing students were killed and three others seriously injured when a tractor-trailer failed to stop and plowed into traffic that had stopped on I-16 in Georgia.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) today re-introduced his bipartisan bill to address a growing problem of parasitic diseases – mostly in poor, minority populations along the U.S.-Mexico border, the rural South, Appalachia and distressed urban areas.
The bill passed the House of Representatives in 2010, but stalled in the Senate.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law (RRCAL), issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a core tenet of the Affordable Care Act in King v. Burwell:
“Today, for the second time, the Supreme Court has upheld the Affordable Care Act,” Johnson said. “The Court’s decision ensures that all eligible Americans, regardless of where they live, have the access to tax credits that help them afford life-saving health care.
Congressman’s fights police militarization; secures passage of five (5) key amendments in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) adopted for FY16

In an 18-hour marathon session, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) considered hundreds of amendments to the spending legislation. The following are several key amendments Rep. Johnson successfully passed in HASC:
