A new bill has been introduced in Congress that will limit the use of song lyrics as court evidence if passed.

The United States Senate passed a bill Wednesday that would provide funding to support cybersecurity job training at historically black colleges and universities, tribal institutions, minority-serving institutions and other colleges and universities that serve a high proportion of Pell Grant recipients.

The Cybersecurity Opportunity Act was sponsored in the U.S. Senate by Georgia Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.

Georgia Republican Rep. Hank Johnson (Ga-04) introduced the partnering legislation in the United States House of Representatives.

Reps. Jamaal Bowman and Hank Johnson on Wednesday introduced the Restoring Artistic Protection (RAP) Act to stop the use of lyrics and artistic expression as evidence in criminal cases.

"Freedom of speech is the constitutional foundation the framers thought necessary to enable a new and free society to craft not only its own destiny through commerce and innovations, but through culture, expression, and art," states Rep. Johnson.

That RAP Act needs to be passed expeditiously!!

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson is the lead sponsor of a bill to establish term limits for Supreme Court justices "while preserving constitutional protections for judicial independence in decision making."

Johnson, D-Stonecrest, on Monday, July 25, introduced the Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization (TERM) Act to allow a new justice to take the bench every two years and spend 18 years in active service.

A new bill has been introduced in the US House of Representatives to address an issue of growing concern for music artists, particularly those in the hip-hop genre. Introduced by Congressmen Hank Johnson (D-GA) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), the Restoring Artistic Protection (RAP) Act seeks to protect artists from the use of their lyrics against them as legal evidence in criminal and civil cases.

Decatur, GA — U.S. Reps. Hank Johnson (GA-4) and Nikema Williams (GA-5) have announced community projects that were included in the fiscal year 2023 appropriations bill, which is Congress' annual spending plan.

Fiscal year 2022 ends Sept. 30. Not all projects have received funding, but several projects from Decatur, Clarkston, Tucker and metro Atlanta were included in the bill.
