WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet and Congressman Ken Buck (CO-04), Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial and Administrative Law, today introduced the Open App Markets Act, which would level the playing field for small app developers, strengthen consumer choice within the app marketplace, and ensure that antitrust laws are working properly in the digital ecosystem.

U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson said he was prepared for the possibility of being arrested when he joined a protest in Washington, D.C., last month.

The Atlanta Democrat and several voting rights activists were taken into custody outside the Hart Senate Office Building.

The group, all Black and male, were protesting the Senate's inaction to pass sweeping voting rights legislation to combat new restrictive state laws.

The eviction moratorium put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent people from being displaced during the pandemic expired on July 31, 2021. While in Washington, I was prepared to vote for an extension but a bill was not put on the floor for a vote.

DECATUR, GA — Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) today released the following statement after Congress failed to extend the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) eviction moratorium this weekend. DeKalb County Superior Court Chief Judge Asha Jackson signed an emergency judicial order creating a countywide eviction moratorium for 60 days following the expiration of the CDC moratorium.
