The Leahy-Smith America Invents Act of 2011—or AIA— made the most fundamental changes to the patent laws that our country had not seen since the Patent Act of 1952. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) voted for bipartisan legislation to ease the burden of rising costs on Georgia families and small businesses, while also boosting American exporters' ability to efficiently deliver products to the global marketplace. The Ocean Shipping Reform Act will crack down on exorbitant fees being charged by international shipping companies and prevent American-made goods from being left on the dock. Previously passed by the Senate, this legislation now heads to the President's desk.

The Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act empowers family members and law enforcement to seek a federal court order to temporarily remove access to guns from those who pose a danger to themselves or others, while incentivizing states to adopt their own so-called "red flag laws."
