WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) today voted against H.R. 4078, the “GOP Safeguards Shutdown bill,” which is attempting to place a moratorium on any and all significant regulations.
The omnibus GOP Safeguards Shutdown bill is a compilation of seven bills – all but one of which are GOP special-interest bills that are designed to attack and undermine regulatory safeguards.

Congressman sends letter to House colleagues to raise awareness of ‘silent epidemic’
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (GA-04) this week sent a letter to all 434 of his House colleagues, urging their support for the bipartisan H.R. 3381, the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act of 2011.
The Act requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to expand awareness and testing campaigns for the hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) virus and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to revise the guidelines it uses to screen for HCV.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (GA-04) today announced two Atlanta-based groups will receive more than $1.3 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to fight veterans’ homelessness in 2012-2013.
Action Ministries Inc. of Atlanta will receive $1 million and Decatur Cooperative Ministry Inc., $320,000 to provide financial and emotional support, as well as housing stability, for veterans in the Fourth District and throughout metro Atlanta.
