ATLANTA, GA — On Aug. 29, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) was recognized as the 2018 "Bill Hardman, Sr. Tourism Champion Award in Government."

Congressman Johnson was nominated for the award by Discover DeKalb, the trademark of the DeKalb Convention & Visitors Bureau. Discover DeKalb said they nominated the Congressman because he is a great advocate for tourism and understands the importance of creating a positive experience for visitors of DeKalb County.

DECATUR, GA — Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced that Oakhurst Medical Center is receiving more than $99,000 in Quality Improvement grant awards from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The award is part of more than $2.8 million in federal funds for health centers across Georgia, which will use the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grants to improve the quality, efficiency and the effectiveness of healthcare for the communities they serve.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), the Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet, today introduced two bills: the bipartisan Application Privacy, Protection and Security (APPS) Act of 2018 (H.R. 6547), a bill to increase consumer privacy on mobile devices, and the DATA Act of 2018 (H.R. 6548) that makes it easier for consumers to correct and opt out of big data collection and use.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) issued the following statement to recognize Juneteenth:

"Today, we celebrate the African-American community and commemorate Juneteenth.

"This Juneteenth marks the 153rd celebration of the ending of slavery in this nation, and since then we have made significant strides in the expansion of civil rights. We have outlawed segregation, integrated our schools and done important work to increase access to the polls.

"Nonetheless, even 153 years later, America and her laws remain prejudiced.
