Congressman: Tucker-based domestic violence center ‘doing the extraordinary’
TUCKER, GA – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) today congratulated Tapestri Inc. for receiving a $300,000 grant from the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women to fight sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
Tapestri is one of the metro Atlanta’s leading community-based organizations working to end violence and oppression in refugee and immigrant communities.
The one-time grant was awarded April 11.

Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA), a national leader on energy and the environment and Ranking Member on the House Natural Resources Committee, is the lead original cosponsor of the bill.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) will award Judiciary and House Armed Services Committee member Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) with its annual Legislative Leader award for his work in 2010.
