This Week in the District: Celebrating Unsung Heroes, Diversity in Aviation, Academy Nominations & Equity in Broadband
Dear Friends,
I'm in Georgia this week holding virtual meetings with constituents and events recognizing local leaders, a Black History Month program focused on "Blacks in Aviation: Past & Present" and our annual Service Academy event to celebrate local students who have received nominations from my office to attend these prestigious universities – U.S. Military Academy (Army), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
I've also invited Deputy Secretary of the Commerce Department Don Graves to the Fourth District for a panel discussion this week on equity in broadband titled: "Investments in Equity through Broadband and Supply Chain." We are still working on details of the panel discussion.
To sign up and watch my Unsung Heroes Awards program this evening from 6-7:30 PM, click HERE for the Zoom link. To watch my Blacks in Aviation program, click HERE on Wednesday at 1 PM. Schools throughout the Fourth District will also be tuning in.
On Thursday, we're holding the panel discussion on equity in broadband, which will be at 9 AM at Georgia Piedmont Technical College in Clarkston. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance will be limited but we will stream the meeting online. I'll have more information on where to find that event later this week. On Thursday evening, I'm holding my Service Academy reception for students and their families from 6-7 PM.
Also this week, I'll be meeting with local farmers and entrepreneurs of Pride Road, a veteran-owned company that produces all-natural, locally grown Hibiscus-based products.
On Saturday, I'll be visiting my friends at the Flat Rock Archives to attend the museum reopening after renovations and a new gallery exhibit.
As always, I appreciate your time and feedback. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent you in Congress. If you have an issue with a federal government agency, please don't hesitate to call my district office at 770-987-2291. Thank you and I hope you join us for any of our important events in the district this week!
