Congressman files legislation that allows death row inmates the ability to introduce new evidence
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), along with other Congressional leaders, today re-introduced the Effective Death Penalty Appeals Act, which would ensure that death row inmates have the opportunity to present newly discovered evidence of innocence.
Under current law, an inmate on death row can be stranded with no procedural options to stop their execution, even when there is compelling new evidence that he or she is innocent.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, voted in favor of H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act – a more than $1.5 trillion plan to rebuild American infrastructure – not only our roads, bridges, and transit systems, but also our schools, housing, broadband access, green energy, water infrastructure, modernizing our Postal Service and so much more.

Hank Johnson (GA-04) took bold action to build on the Affordable Care Act to lower health costs and prescription drug prices for all Americans by joining House Democrats to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act. Today's vote comes days after the Trump Administration filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to strike down the entirety of the ACA.
