Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced the opening of this year's Congressional Art Competition for all high school students who reside or attend a school in Georgia's Fourth Congressional District.
"Each year, we gain a new appreciation for every piece of art entered for our annual competition because no matter what colors they use, no matter their interpretation, this is their art," said Johnson. "Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are rights we hold dear, and I'm sure all of the pieces submitted will speak to us in some way."
CONYERS — Students at Flat Shoals Elementary School in Conyers got to meet their congressman on Thursday.
Hank Johnson, who represents Rockdale County as well as parts of Newton and DeKalb counties in the U.S. House of Representatives, donated books from the Library of Congress in Washington to the Flat Shoals media center on Thursday and fielded questions from students.

COVINGTON, Ga. – U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson visited Newton County Thursday afternoon to bring books to Flint Hill Elementary School. The congressman presented surplus books from the Library of Congress to the school's media center along with an American flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol. The subcommittee has jurisdiction over administration of U.S. Courts, federal rules of evidence, civil and appellate procedure, judicial ethics, patent, copyright and trademark law, information technology and the Internet.
