Twenty-one DeKalb County students are among 35 nominated this year by U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) to attend a U.S. service academy.

The DeKalb nominees – from Arabia Mountain, Columbia, Martin Luther King Jr., Tucker, Southwest DeKalb and Stephenson high schools and Woodard Academy – are in the largest class ever nominated by Johnson.

Jay-Z isn't letting a fellow rapper go down without a fight. The music mogul's entertainment company has enlisted an attorney to help 21 Savage, who was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Sunday.

Several other high-profile people have come to 21 Savage's defense, including Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson. "Claims that She'yaa was hiding or their claims that he was detained because of prior convictions simply aren't true," Johnson tweeted. "She'yaa was never convicted & he was openly seeking to renew his visa. Here's my letter to ICE."

Democrats on the committee showed no inclination to accommodate Whitaker's demands, and some urged Nadler to respond with an immediate subpoena.

"Get him under subpoena, bring him to our hearing, and ask him questions and demand answers — and then take him to court if he does not answer those questions," said Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.).

"What he's trying to do is play out the clock . . . and then maybe he thinks he's off the hook of having to appear," Johnson continued. "But I think he'll be badly mistaken about that."

Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) managed two bills that passed the House of Representatives by voice vote on Tuesday.

The first bill, H.R. 439, the "National FFA Organization's Federal Charter Amendment's Act," is a bipartisan effort to update and modernize the Federal Charter for the National FFA Organization (formerly known as the Future Farmers of America). The bill updates the FFA's charter to make it more consistent with the modern organization, and to provide additional flexibility as it looks toward the future.
