The Week Ahead
I have a busy slate of committee hearings based out of Washington and important events that I’m holding and attending here at home as well.
So far this week, I participated in an Oversight & Reform Committee hearing on D.C. Statehood, which by the way as a native Washingtonian and civil rights champion, I support.
Tonight, Tuesday, March 23, I’m joining DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson on his virtual “Touchpoint” Series live on his Facebook page to discuss issues of the day. Please join us.
On Wednesday, which is Equal Pay Day, I’ll be examining the long-term economic impacts of gender inequality in this country. This Thursday, I'll be chairing my Judiciary subcommittee looking at the importance of a diverse federal judiciary, and taking part in Transportation & Infrastructure Committee hearings on the President’s infrastructure plan.
This Saturday, March 27, I’m holding an important community conversation on the rise of discrimination and violence against our Asian-American brothers and sisters. I’ll have members of Congress, the Georgia State Legislature, community and stakeholder groups and local law enforcement on hand to bring community awareness to the scope of the problem and to show community solidarity with our AAPI sisters and brothers. The event will be on Zoom and Facebook Live. To register, click HERE.
Next Tuesday, March 30 at 3 PM, I’m holding a Twitter Town Hall. Please use the #AskHank to participate. Also on Tuesday, March 30 at 4:30 PM, I’m participating in a tax season event to empower lower-and-moderate income taxpayers to use FREE IRS and GA-sponsored tax preparation services like GA Free File and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA).
