Dear Friends,

Since the year 2000, foreclosures in Atlanta have skyrocketed, devastating communities throughout the Fourth District.

Foreclosure-Prevention_200About a year ago, Georgia received more than $340 million from Washington to help unemployed homeowners avoid foreclosures. But not enough is being done to get the word out and to get the funds where they are needed most.

That's why on Saturday, April 28, I'm hosting a community event to help teach struggling homeowners learn more about HomeSafe.

HomeSafe provides up to an 18-month mortgage-payment bridge to Georgia homeowners who have suffered a substantial income loss due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment and who are able and willing to work.

HomeSafe's goal is to save more than 18,000 homes from foreclosure. So far, the program has only helped 900.

The event will also provide opportunities for homeowners who do not qualify for HomeSafe to meet with counselors, who can check on their eligibility for a loan modification through their lender.

For more information, you can visit my web site HERE or go to HomeSafe Georgia to see if you qualify HERE.

The event is free and open to the public. If you've lost your job or you're underemployed and you're having trouble making your mortgage payments, please stop by Salem Bible Church on Saturday, April 28 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to see if HomeSafe can help you.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your congressman. We might not be able to save every home, but we're not going to stop until everyone who needs help, receives it. Please help spread the word of the event to family and friends who might be helped by HomeSafe.
