Hank Johnson's E-Newsletter (April 15, 2010)
Dear Friends, It’s not too late to mail back your 2010 Census form. It’s critical that all Georgians participate because the Census determines where more than $400 billion in federal funding goes for roads, hospitals, schools, senior centers, emergency services and mass transit. It just takes a few minutes to answer the 10 questions but our collective response will directly affect critical federal investment in our community. So far, Rockdale and Gwinnett counties have a 66 percent response rate; DeKalb’s is 64 percent. Nationwide, the response rate in 2010 has been 67 percent. We need to boost our rate! Folks in the Fourth District – from Conyers and Rockdale County to Norcross and Lilburn in Gwinnett County to Lithonia, Decatur, Clarkston, Avondale Estates, Doraville, Stone Mountain, Tucker and Chamblee in DeKalb County – pride ourselves on being engaged, civic-minded citizens. So, please, if you have not filled out and mailed back your Census form, do it today. And tell your neighbors, friends and family to do the same. Those who do not have a form should call one of the phone numbers below to request delivery. Forms are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Russian.
