Free COVID Tests Now Available Online or Via Phone
Dear Friends,
One of the main tools we can use to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 – especially the more easily-spread Omicron variant – is testing, testing, testing. And I know firsthand after testing positive for COVID this week, which was first detected by a rapid, at-home test then I followed up with a PCR test.
It's why to help ensure Americans have tests on hand if a need arises, the Biden Administration is purchasing one billion at-home, rapid COVID-19 tests to give to Americans for free. A half-billion tests are available for order beginning this week and will be mailed directly to American households.
The tests are free. Four free tests are available now for every household and will be distributed via residential addresses. Go to COVIDTests.gov now to order your family's supply. Tests will typically ship via the U.S. Postal Service within 7-12 days of ordering.
To ensure equity and access for all Americans, the Administration also launched a call line at 1-800-232-0233 to help those unable to access the website to place orders, and work with national and local community-based organizations to support the nation's hardest-hit and highest-risk communities in requesting tests.
Again, visit COVIDTests.gov to get your four free COVID-19 tests today. For more information on other testing resources, click HERE. Public health experts and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that Americans use at-home tests if they begin to have symptoms, at least five days after coming in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or are gathering indoors with a group of people who are at risk of severe disease or unvaccinated.
If you need more tests, your health insurance will pay for additional tests purchased at Walgreens or CVS. Again for those of us who cannot order tests online, call 1-800-232-0233. The call line, which serves those speaking English, Spanish and more than 150 additional languages, is open 8 a.m. until midnight EST, seven days a week.
As always, I appreciate your time and feedback. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent you in Congress. Please help us in the fight against COVID-19 spread in our communities. I'm grateful for having received the vaccines and the booster and encourage everyone to get vaccinated. Our hospitals in Georgia and many around the country are in crisis with COVID-19 cases. All of us should be doing everything we can to help reduce coronavirus infections so our emergency rooms, hospitals and healthcare workers are not overrun.
If you have an issue with a federal government agency, please don't hesitate to call my district office at 770-987-2291. Thank you and I hope you and your family had a safe and blessed MLK holiday weekend!
