Dear Friends,

I hope everyone had a very happy and healthy holiday season. We've had a very busy start to 2020 so let's catch up.

On Jan. 9, I voted in favor of a War Powers Resolution to limit President Trump's military actions regarding Iran. This resolution reiterates that only Congress can declare war and affirms that Congress has not authorized the use of military force against Iran. Hence, it states that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration's military hostilities with regard to Iran must end. For more, click HERE.

I also voted to pass H.R. 535, the PFAS Action Act, to protect families from PFAS "forever chemicals" and designate them as hazardous substances, clean up existing contamination and protect public health by providing critical resources for communities. PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, a widespread group of man-made chemicals commonly found in food packaging, waterproof fabrics, firefighting foam and more. For communities throughout Georgia and across the country, PFAS contamination is having a troubling effect on the health and well-being of our children and families. For more, click HERE.

On Sunday, Jan. 12, I hosted my inaugural Unsung Hero Awards program at the Black Box Theatre in Conyers. I honored 20 leaders from DeKalb, Rockdale Gwinnett and Newton counties who go above and beyond in service to constituents in Georgia's Fourth District. For more, click HERE.

To celebrate the MLK holiday this year, I'll be attending and speaking at Ebenezer Baptist Church for the 52nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Commemorative Service. Afterwards, I'll be celebrating the day with constituents throughout the Fourth District. I urge everyone to consider this a day on not a day off and volunteer in your community.

As always, I appreciate your time and feedback. Please remember you can reach me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as e-mails, phone calls and letters. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent you in Congress.
