8 Fourth District Projects Included In Annual Funding Bill
Dear Friends,
I'm very happy to report that Congress approved, and the president will sign this week, a federal government funding bill for fiscal year 2022.
This bill – known as an "omnibus" appropriations bill – provides funding for all federal agencies, and includes billions of dollars for infrastructure, clean water, education, national security, public health, helping families with the cost of living, support for veterans and more.
This legislation will also unlock critical infrastructure investments that have already been authorized by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, creating good-paying jobs across Georgia.
I am particularly pleased that the bill also included eight specific projects that I requested as part of a new Community Project Funding process.
The projects include:
- $800,000 for Flat Shoals Parkway (SR 155) Sidewalk Improvements -- Columbia Drive to Flakes Mill Road in South DeKalb
- $600,000 for Derrydown Way Complete Streets Project in Decatur
- $800,000 for Fairview Road Multi-use Trail, Newton County
- $1 million for Georgia Piedmont Technical College Regional Transportation Training Center
- $900,000 for Dried Indian Creek Corridor Protection and Connection Initiative in Oxford.
- $209,000 for Creative Village Affordable Housing and Studio Complex for Artists in Decatur
- $300,000 for MedCura Health (formerly Oakhurst Medical), Stone Mountain for mental health services for people experiencing homelessness
- $325,000 for CDF Action, Clarkston for the READY School initiative
Additionally, the omnibus will provide $13.6 billion in assistance for the people of Ukraine, as they face Russia's unprovoked, premeditated war.
With the FY22 funding now approved, Congress will soon begin working on funding for FY23. I will continue to fight for the funds our community needs.
As always, I appreciate your time and feedback. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent you in Congress. If you have an issue with a federal government agency, please don't hesitate to call my district office at 770-987-2291.
