Congressman Johnson has always been a champion for “the little guy.” From his post on the Judiciary Committee, he continues to introduce legislation designed to level the bargaining and legal playing field between consumers and service and product providers. In March 2022, his bipartisan Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (FAIR) Act (H.R. 963) that re-establishes everyday Americans' 7th Amendment right to seek justice and accountability through the court system, passed the House of Representatives. Congressman Johnson supports increasing funding of and oversight on the part of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). He has called for quality control and safety assurance mechanisms in any trade agreements.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) defended consumers and businesses victimized by scams and fraud by voting for H.R. 2668, the Consumer Protection and Recovery Act. This legislation restores the authority of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to take lawbreakers to court and recover stolen funds for victims of scam, fraud and other illegal activities. The agency had exercised this power for more than 40 years before the Supreme Court stripped this authority in April.

Hank Johnson (Ga-04) voted for H.R. 1443, the LGBTQ Business Equal Credit Enforcement and Investment Act, which improves equal access to credit for LGBTQ-owned small businesses by taking steps to improve data collection by financial institutions. DECATUR, GA – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) is urging hardworking families in Georgia's Fourth District to file their taxes before the upcoming May 17th deadline to ensure they receive the accurate amount in new advance monthly Child Tax Credit payments they are entitled to as soon as possible.
Johnson said the expanded and improved Child Tax Credit could lift more than 14,000 children in Georgia's Fourth district out of poverty and more than half of those out of deep poverty.
