Statement on the Retirement of Commissioner Julie Brill from the Federal Trade Commission

March 22, 2016

Today, Julie Brill (right of Congressman Johnson), who served as a Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) since 2010, announced that she will resign on March 31, 2016, to go into private practice. Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) recently introduced legislation to safeguard consumers’ privacy and serves as the Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law, which exercises oversight over the FTC on competition matters.

“Having worked closely with her on privacy and competition policy, Commissioner Brill has been a leading advocate for consumers and fairness at a time of immense technological and social change,” Johnson stated. “I wish her the best and thank her for her tremendous service at the Commission.”
