Rep. Johnson’s statement on Comcast building high-speed Internet in GA’s 4th District

April 8, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Johnson released the following statement on the importance of building high-speed Internet services throughout Georgia’s Fourth District. As the top Democrat on the Judiciary Subcommittee with jurisdiction over competition and regulatory policy, Rep. Johnson has repeatedly called for greater deployment of high-speed broadband throughout Georgia, the Fourth District, and the nation:

“I applaud Comcast for deploying high-speed Internet services to 1.5 million homes in metro Atlanta. The new 2 gigabit-per-second service will be 200-times faster than the national average for Internet speeds. Faster Internet speeds result in higher productivity in classrooms, hospitals, and the entire community. Combined with the plans of AT&T and Google to build out similarly fast broadband services, it is clear that Atlanta is becoming a beacon for innovation, competition, and consumer choice in the broadband marketplace. It’s good for residents, job growth and the quality of life in metro Atlanta and District 4.”
