Rep. Johnson to Goodlatte: Bring Facebook CEO to Judiciary Committee to Testify

March 22, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04), ranking member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet, sent a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte urging that he call Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify before the Committee regarding Facebook's role in Cambridge Analytica's collection and misuse of private user data:

"We have a long list of unanswered questions about the impact of personal data use on election outcomes, how the private information was acquired, and concerns regarding compliance with U.S. and international privacy agreements," Johnson wrote in the letter. "The transparency garnered by such a hearing would help the House Committee on the Judiciary achieve more coherent oversight of personal data storage, use, and exchanges, and will ensure that critical steps are taken to ensure free and fair elections."
