Rep. Johnson earns ‘A’ on League of Conservation 2017 National Environmental report card

February 27, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced today he earned a 97 percent from The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) on their 2017 National Environmental Scorecard, which tallies the performance of every member of Congress every year on key environmental votes.

Rep. Johnson's lifetime LCV score is 96 percent, the highest in the Georgia delegation. On February 1, Congressman Johnson was recognized by Environment Georgia for his 100 percent clean-energy and environmental voting record in 2017.

"This was the easiest "A" I've ever achieved – even through all my years in school, college and law school," said Johnson. "I consider it my duty to vote to protect public lands, recognize the dangers of climate change, fund environmental justice and block assaults on environmental safeguards. I'm just surprised more of my colleagues don't understand that climate change is real and threatens our health, the environment, national security and our economy."

The average House and Senate score was 45 percent.

For over 40 years, the National Environmental Scorecard issued by LCV has been the nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental, public health, and energy issues. For more information, visit http://scorecard.lcv.org.
