Rep. Johnson Celebrates the Start of LGBTQ+ History Month
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) celebrates the start of LGBTQ+ History Month, a month to celebrate the people, places, culture, and moments in history that make up the LGBTQ+ experience. Rep. Johnson is a Member of the Congressional LGBTQ+ History Month and actively advocates and supports legislation for the betterment and well-being of LGBTQ+ people.
“I am proud to celebrate the start of this important month. LGBTQ+ history is often forgotten when discussing both the history of this country and the people who live here and around the world. Let us all celebrate the people in our past and present who make up the LGBTQ+ community as we continue to make history by making this world a more accepting place for the community. As state legislatures, anti-LGBTQ+ politicians, and anti-LGBTQ+ individuals across the country continue to attack the LGBTQ+ community — especially the trans and nonbinary community — we must do more to protect basic human rights for everyone. I look forward to celebrating this month with my colleagues and continuing to push pro-LGBTQ+ legislation so we can celebrate a better year next LGBTQ+ History Month.”
