Rep. Johnson Calls for Close Scrutiny of Proposed AT&T-Time Warner Acquisition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Henry C. “Hank” Johnson, Jr., (GA-04), the Ranking Member of the Antitrust Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement in response to the proposed acquisition of Time Warner by AT&T:
“Competition in the swiftly evolving communications and video content market is critical to ensuring effective choice and low costs for millions of Americans,” Johnson stated. “As ranking member of the House Antitrust Subcommittee, I plan to scrutinize closely the proposed acquisition and its impact on competition in the video content industry generally to ensure that this transaction will not harm consumers and workers or impede the free exchange of ideas.”
