Congressman holds reception for Fourth District students at ART Station in Stone Mountain
LITHONIA, GA – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced the names of the 21 Fourth District students who have been nominated to attend a U.S. Service Academy – Military Academy (West Point), Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.
This year, 15 students have received appointments to attend a Service Academy -- which is a record for the office. The average award per appointment is $425,000 for five Naval Academy appointments, five Air Force appointments, one Air Force Prep School appointment and four West Point (Army) appointments -- for a total net worth of $6.3 million.
“Our esteemed institutions will educate, train, and inspire you to help shoulder the wheel in defense of our nation,” Johnson told the students. “You will learn the meaning of duty, honor, and country. And you will be asked to lead our nation’s soldiers, an awesome responsibility. All of our outstanding nominees possess the kind of leadership skills necessary to be successful in school, business and in life.
