Rep. Johnson announces Mobile Veterans Center coming to metro Atlanta
LITHONIA, GA – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced today that the Department of Veterans Affairs is deploying 20 additional Mobile Vet Centers to increase access to readjustment counseling services for veterans and their families, including one that is coming to Atlanta.
“I’m proud to join President Obama and Secretary Shinseki in announcing this victory for veterans in metro Atlanta,” said Johnson.
The customized vehicles – which are equipped with confidential counseling space and a state of the art communication package – travel to communities to extend VA’s reach to veterans, service members and their families.
Atlanta’s Mobile Vet Center will provide services throughout metro Atlanta, including DeKalb, Rockdale, and Gwinnett counties.
Since 2007, Rep. Johnson’s office has held two Veterans Expos and secured more than $3 million in benefits for veterans in his district. Johnson said he plans to have the Mobile Vet Center at his next Vet Expo in 2012.
