Hank stands with low-wage workers in Georgia and across the country

August 29, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04), a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, released the following statement today in support of low-wage fast food and retail workers who participated in a nationwide walkout- for job protections and fair wages:

“For far too long, fast food and low-wage workers have been ignored. They deserve a voice and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is standing up – and I am standing up. Companies are making record profits as their workers who contribute mightily to those profits are struggle just to get by. Where is the fairness? Where is the justice? We need to get our economy moving again – and that starts with helping workers in low-wage service jobs to earn a living wage, so they too can take care of their families and contribute to our economy. It is right, it is just and it is long overdue.”
