Hank invites students to Academy Day

TUCKER, GA. -- Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), who represents parts of DeKalb, Rockdale and Gwinnett counties, invites all Fourth District students interested in the Service Academies to attend Academy Day on Saturday, May 8 at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Due to strict regulations regarding access to the base, you must register by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 30 by visiting www.isakson.senate.gov/academies.html or by calling Nancy Brooks at 770-661-0999.

Congressman Johnson will host the event along with Georgia Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss. Come out and hear first hand from Academy representatives what going to college at one of the Service Academies is all about and how it sets you for a lifetime of success and adventure.

There are five service academies --Three reside within the Department of Defense:
• U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York
• U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland
• U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs

One resides within the Department of Transportation:
• U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York

One resides within the Department of Homeland Security:
• U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut
