Georgia Democrats Come Together for Black Maternal Health Week
April 16, 2024
Black Maternal Health Week is April 11-17 annually.
During Black Maternal Health Week, Georgia Democrats led by Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) partnered with the Centers For Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). Together they released a video raising awareness of the fact that Black women in Georgia and nationwide are three times more likely to die from pregnancy than White women. Georgia has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country.
The video features U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, and Representatives David Scott (GA-13), Hank Johnson (GA-04), Lucy McBath (GA-07), and Nikema Williams (GA-05).
You can watch the video on Twitter and YouTube. To learn more about Black Maternal Health Week, visit the CDC at cdc.gov/hearher.
