As senior member of T&I, Rep. Johnson Diversifies Workforce, Encourages Innovation in Burgeoning Electric “Air Taxis’ Industry and Study of Hydrogen to Decarbonize Aviation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As a senior member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) today secured several of his priorities in the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act — Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act that passed the House — including help to streamline and advance power-lift aircraft certifications, efforts to diversify the aviation industry, studies on the use of hydrogen as an aviation fuel and measures to decrease air and noise pollution.

“I’m pleased I was able to deliver measures in this bill for Georgians that helps create jobs, is good for aviation consumers and works toward decarbonizing the industry and tackles climate change,” said Rep. Johnson, who also sits on the Aviation Subcommittee. “It’s important that Congress strengthens our aviation sector, diversifies our workforce and invests in infrastructure and innovation.”

It now heads to the Senate, where lawmakers are considering their bill to reauthorize the FAA.
